'Last Call' Marks Police Dept. Retirement; Promotions Posted

HOWELL, NJ — The Police Department announced some changes in staff, including two promotions and the retirement of a longtime leader in the department.

Capt. Mark Pilecki retired recently from the department after more than 43 years. You can see a video of his "last call" on the department social media page here.

Pilecki started with the agency on March 10, 1980, serving in many capacities from patrol officer through commander of the Patrol Division and most recently commander of the Services Divisions.

In the video, you can hear Pikecki commenting briefly on his years in the department and about his commitment to integrity and his work ethic.

When he signs off, dispatch responds and recounts his many responsibilities in the department.

Pilecki wishes the members of the department a safe return home after their shifts. "Thank you for making my life easy, and it was a privilege to work with you," he said.

"216 is clear," he says as he ends his call.

Pilecki has also been an active volunteer in the community as a member of the Squankum Fire Department and Howell First Aid Squad.

"We wish Mark a long happy and healthy retirement. Well deserved," the department said.

Promotions

Promoted to lieutenant were Lt. Peter Hochhauser and Lt. David Levine, the department said.

Hochhauser has been with the agency since 2007. He has served in the Patrol Division as a patrol sergeant and the Services Division supervising the Traffic Unit and School Officers. He is being assigned as lieutenant to the Services Division.

Levine has been with the agency since 2005. He has served in the Patrol Division as a patrol sergeant and the Services Division in technical services and as the fleet administrator. He will be a lieutenant in charge of the agency's technology, computers, and video systems (body and car cameras).

"Congratulations to both Lt. Hochhauser and Lt. Levine on your well deserved promotions," the department said.
