Howell Fire Prevention Week Will Be All About Smoke Alarm Sounds

Knowing the different sounds smoke alarms make and how to react can save lives. First responders will be giving out information all week.

HOWELL, NJ — Do you know what your fire alarm sounds like? First responders want to make sure that you do in case of an emergency.

That's why this year's fire prevention week in Howell was titled "Learn the Sounds of Fiire Safety."

Between Oct. 3 and 9, the Howell Fire Bureau in cooperation with Howell Township Fire Departments will be giving out information in a fire safety trailer that will be parked in several locations around town.

"Is there a beep or a chirp coming out of your smoke or carbon monoxide alarm? Knowing the difference can save you, your home and your family," said Captain Brian Prochnow. "Make sure everyone in the home understands the sounds of the alarms and knows how to respond."
