Howell Road, Utility Projects Prompt Detours, Closures
Motorists will see changes in traffic patterns this week on some Howell roads for an intersection realignment, utility company projects.
HOWELL, NJ — Motorists can expect some detours and road closures in Howell as utility and infrastructure projects continue through this week and month, according to the township:
The NJ American Water Co. project on Asbury Road is continuing and the 24-hour road closure is scheduled to be removed this Friday, Aug. 25. Daytime closures will still be necessary the following week on Asbury Road. All work should be completed by Labor Day.
The developer of a project at the corner of Yellowbrook Road and Adelphia-Farmingdale Road (County Route 524) is required to reconstruct the intersection as part of its approval. Yellowbrook Road will be realigned to intersect closer to a right angle with Adelphia-Farmingdale Road, the township said.

This work will require the intersection to be completely closed from through Wednesday evening, Aug. 23. The intersection will be closed 24 hours a day during this time. Yellowbrook Road will be closed at Cranberry Road. Colts Neck Road and Fairfield Road will be used as detours.
NJ American Water will be installing a water main on Sunnyside Road between Gristmill Road and Fort Plains Road starting Tuesday for four days. Sunnyside Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday afternoon. Traffic will be detoured to West Farms Road and Hulses Corner Road.

NJ Natural Gas is continuing its gas main replacement project on Aldrich Road between Pinewood Road and Northgate Drive. This portion of the project is anticipated to be completed by Labor Day.
Meanwhile, the town reports that work on Fairfield Road and Casino Drive has been completed and both roads were to be reopened to full traffic as of Aug. 18.
