Howell Woman Competes for Cover On Fitness Magazine

Erica Limatola may be the next face on HERS Health and Fitness Magazine with your help.

Erica Limatola, a Howell High School Graduate is currently in the quarter finals for becoming the next face on a popular Fitness Magazine. HERS Muscle and Fitness Magazine is running a competition to allow small town names to become big. Women from around the country are competing head-to-head to win a chance to be on the cover of the magazine with a tw0-page spread, and a gift of $20,000.

Erica Limatola is one of these amazing women putting her body and mind on the line for a chance to spread her message in ways bigger than she ever thought possible. After graduating from Howell High School, she obtained her Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University in Journalism and Media Studies. Hoping to write for a fitness magazine herself, COVID ran its course and the plans were changed. During quarantine, Ms. Limatola decided to reroute her career and by the time lockdown was over, she had two certifications under her belt: NASM Certified Personal Trainer and NASM Certified Nutrition Coach. Once the pandemic slowed down, Ms. Limatola went back to school to gain a Master's Degree in Sports and Health Sciences from American Public University, the sister school to American Military University. She is now holding two jobs, working at All-Care Physical therapy and being a mobile Personal Trainer for GYMGUYZ and is suggested to graduate with her Master's later this month.

Erica Limatola was an athlete her whole life and continued into college joining the Rutgers Powerlifting Team. She has worked in gyms here in Howell, like Gold's Gym and on the military base in Fort Dix, as well as the Retro Fitness right outside of base. But, she wants more. Ms. Limatola has expressed that if she won the grand prize, she would invest in building an all-inclusive gym. One where anyone can come and feel at home. This includes providing equipment, resources, and education for those who are physically or mentally disabled, women who are pregnant, the youth and the elderly, people who are obese or severely underweight, so on and so forth. She, becoming openly gay in 2018, has spent her life not feeling completely welcome anywhere and aims to provide a place for wanderers looking for a space to feel at home: a space surrounded by health and self-love.
