HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township residents who are working on their fall yard cleanup should mark their calendars for the annual fall leaf collection.

Collection will begin on or about Nov. 3, weather permitting, according to the Howell public works department.

Crews will start picking up leaves simultaneously in multiple zones in the township, officials said.

Leaves should be placed at the edge of the curb — not in traffic lanes — and must be leaves only. Do not bag the leaves, officials said. Keep them away from storm drains to prevent flooding.

"If possible blow leaves into woods to allow natural composition and creation of topsoil for healthier trees," officials said.

Leaves should be at the curb no later than Nov. 30, and the last round of leaf collection is scheduled to start Dec. 1, officials said.

"After this date we will not be returning to your street once the last pass is made," officials said.

For those looking to get rid of brush, the next brush collection is scheduled for Spring 2026. Brush can be taken to the township's recycling center at 278 Old Tavern Road. It is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. year-round with the exception of holiday closures.

No permits are required to access the center but proof of residency must be provided.

For more information or questions you can call the township's public works department Mondays through Fridays at 732-938-4500, ext. 2450, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Or check the township website at www.twp.howell.nj.us.
