Man Attacked Woman Pushing Child In Stroller In Howell, Police Say

The suspect was seen in the area for an extended time before the attack, Howell police said.

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township police are searching for a man they say attacked a woman as she was pushing her 2-year-old child in a stroller on a residential street on Monday evening.

The woman was walking in the area of Pinewood Road near Cecilia Court shortly before 5 p.m. when she was attacked, police said.

She told police the man came up behind her, put her in a choke-hold and threw her to the ground. When the woman screamed for help, the man ran away, police said.

Before the woman was attacked, the suspect was seen in the area of Pinewood Road, Cecilia Court, Violet Circle and Poppy Lane for an extended period of time, police said.

The suspect is described a Black man with a thin build, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He was wearing a gray hood, a dark jacket with light stripes on the sleeves, dark pants and white athletic-style sneakers, police said.

Police released a photo of a man who is believed to be the suspect; it was captured by a dash camera in the area around the time the woman was attacked, police said.
