Railway Project Will Detour Fairfield Road In Howell

Motorists can expect a rail crossing project on Fairfield Road to impact travel in the area this week; detours will be in place.

HOWELL, NJ — A Fairfield Road railroad crossing replacement will continue all this week, the township advises motorists.

The roadway will be closed 24 hours a day at the crossing for approximately five days.

During this time the contractor will have two detour routes:

  • The first route will use Route 524 (Adelphia-Farmingdale Road) to Yellowbrook Road to Route 33.
  • The second route will be Route 524 to Howell Road to Business Route 33.

Fairfield Road will be milled and repaved the week of Aug. 14. The road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday that week, and the same detours will be in place, the township said.
