Challenger Wins Spot On Howell School Board In Unofficial Results
Martianne Degliuomini, who challenged three incumbents for Howell Board of Education, is projected to win; two incumbents in close race.

HOWELL, NJ — With 100 percent of districts reporting, unofficial votes show a challenger has won a spot on the Howell Board of Education, leaving two incumbents in a close race for the third spot.
Current Board of Education President Albert Miller and board members Denise M. Lowe and Ira Thor sought re-election to their spots on the school board.
Thor was the high vote-getter in unofficial results with 6,112 votes.

Lowe won 5,136 votes - just four votes ahead of Miller with 5,132 votes.
But a non-incumbent was the second highest vote getter. Martianne Degliuomini had 5,486 votes.

There was also a write-in campaign by Eleonora Calo and Denise Hirschhorn. Vote totals for the write-ins were not specified by individual in county results. But total write-in votes were 862.
Mail-in and provisional ballots remain to be counted, so results are so far unofficial and not certified. Candidates were not immediately available to comment on the close results last night.

There are no open spots for the Freehold Regional Board of Education from Howell this election year.
