HOWELL, NJ — The night before Thanksgiving, the Monmouth County DWI Task Force will be conducting its final checkpoint for 2023 - this one in Howell.

On Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m., all northbound vehicles on Route 9 will be diverted in the Regal Plaza parking lot where all drivers will be screened for their sobriety. Members of the Task Force will be working alongside local officers from Howell.

"The holiday seasons usually see an uptick in the amount of DWI arrests and our goal is to educate drivers about the dangers of driving under the influence," said County DWI Task Force Coordinator Chief Michael Schneider, Allenhurst Police Department.

"When the education and deterrence components do not work, the Task Force will enforce the State's DWI laws in an effort to prevent any family from experiencing the anguish of having to lose a loved one due to an impaired driver. Please help us to make this holiday season the safest possible," Schneider urged.
