Veterans Day Services Planned In Howell, Farmingdale

Howell and Farmingdale veterans organizations will offer two Veterans Day services this Saturday.

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township Memorial Post 9691 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary will hold Veterans Day Services with its fellow comrades of Farmingdale American Legion Post 178, the organization has announced.

The services will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, at Soldiers Field at 11 a.m. and in Farmingdale at Lutz Park at 11:30 a.m.

Veterans Day honors veterans of the armed forces and those killed in the country’s wars. The observance originated in 1919 on the first anniversary of the 1918 armistice that ended World War I and was known as Armistice Day. It was commemorated in 1921 with the burial of an unknown soldier from World War I at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
