Veterans, Families Invited To Howell School's Appreciation Event

The ceremony honoring those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces is marking its 22nd year.

HOWELL, NJ — Local military veterans are invited to join the students and staff of Aldrich Elementary School for the school's 22nd Annual Veterans Appreciation Assembly.

The assembly begins at 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 14 at the elementary school, 615 Aldrich Road.

The event includes a breakfast donated by local merchants and then a ceremony that includes a presentation of the colors, student readers, patriotic songs performed by the students and staff of Aldrich School, the playing of Taps, and the presentation of special veteran and patriotic-themed videos.

"To mark this special day, Aldrich School is beautifully adorned with red, white, and blue "Thank you"-themed student decorations as well as with pictures and biographies of attending veterans.

Each veteran and family member in attendance receives a copy of the assembly program and a collection of student writing pieces as a keepsake.

"The staff and students at Aldrich School take great pride in honoring the brave men and women who have served, or are currently serving in, the United States Armed Forces," the school said.

The events begins with breakfast in the media center at 8:30 a.m., and the assembly follows at 9:30 a.m. in the gymnasium.

In case of inclement weather, the assembly would be rescheduled to Monday, Nov. 17.
