Bring The Kids To Baxter's Fishing Derby In Howell

The annual event will include breakfast, stations to teach fishing basics for beginners and fun for all.

HOWELL, NJ — The annual Baxter's Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, June 1, at Echo Lake, Howell officials announced.

The derby, a Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs event, is free for adults and children, and runs from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. at the lake at Alfred C. Sauer Park, 1225 Maxim-Southard Road in Howell.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own fishing rod and supplies and there will be learning stations to teach beginners fishing basics like bait selection, lures, knot-tying, fish identification and more.

There will be a grab-and-go breakfast and a picnic lunch provided, along with awards, trophies and prizes for the fishing derby.

Registration takes place at 8 a.m. at the derby, and the first 100 registrants will receive a free drawstring bag.
