5 Things: Help Yourself by Helping Others
Check out the United Way's mentoring program.

Are you looking for a way to help people? Maybe start off the new year with a new focus? The United Way can help you become a mentor. Here's what you need to know:
- What? Mentoring is teaching others how to do something, or teaching them something new.
- Why? Mentoring can help you by helping others. It helps build confidence and develop stronger interpersonal skills.
- Where? You can mentor people almost anywhere. But first you have to attend training classes, given by the United Way. There's one tonight starting at 6 p.m. At the United Way's office in Cedar Knolls.
- What You'll Learn: Problem-solving skills, roles and responsibilities of a mentor and how to help the mentee set and achieve goals.
- What To Do Next: Preregister for the program. Click here for more information.
