Board Prez: New Super In Place by Late February

Timetable for superintendent hiring announced.

Board of Education president Ron Smith said that the new superintendent of the will be introduced to the public at a special board meeting on Feb. 27.

Smith outlined the events leading up to that event at Tuesday night’s school board meeting.

On Monday, Jan. 23, Dr. William Librera, head of the search firm West Hudson Associates, will spend the day in the district meeting with administrators, central office staff, teacher representatives and PTA representatives.

“Teachers in the district also have been surveyed as to what they would like to see in a superintendent,” Smith said.

That same day at 7 p.m., Librera will conduct a public forum garnering information from the public as to what qualities they seek in a superintendent.

The district is currently seeking candidates for the position, and, based on the information received on Jan. 23, will choose candidates to interview from the applicant pool. The board will interview three or four finalists on or about Feb. 22, Smith said.

The board will then make its decision and introduce the candidate to the public at the Feb. 27 meeting.

Board member Robert Feldmann asked if the top two finalists would be given the opportunity to make a presentation to the public, as was the case when current superintendent Dr. Kathaleen Fuchs was hired.

“That is something we will consider, and will discuss with Dr. Librera,” Smith said.
