Board Looks to Fix High School Traffic Flow

Adding a left turn lane would help Milton residents navigate the high school-middle school complex.

Anyone who drives to or around the high school/middle school complex early in the morning or at the end of the school day knows how difficult maneuvering the traffic can be. At its meeting on Monday night, the school board discussed possibilities for changing the traffic pattern to alleviate some of the difficulty, especially for residents of the Milton section of the township.

“The proposal involves changing the pattern of the lines on the road and creating a left-turn lane for those coming into the complex from the Milton side of town,” said member Frank Cuccio.

In addition, buses would enter the s A lot, and then use the connector between the two schools as a turnaround area to go to the drop-off point.

“This has been tested and it should really improve the traffic flow,” Cuccio said.

Board member Michael Stewart questioned if the changes would interfere with student parking in the front of the school.

“Students will still have ample room to park in front of the school, and will be able to get out of their cars without opening their doors into oncoming traffic,” Cuccio said.
