Cub Scouts Earn Highest Honor

Arrow of Light presented to 25 boys.

Hard work was rewarded as 25 members of Cub Scout Pack 49 were presented recently with Cub Scouts Highest Award, the Arrow of Light.

The Arrow of Light is the only Cub Scouting award that a boy can wear on his Boy Scout uniform.Β  It signifies completion of requirements earning seven significant activity badges.Β  Seven of Cub Scouting’s core values are emphasized through the Webelos Scout activity badges.

  • Perseverance: Sticking with something and not giving up, even if it is hard.
  • Courage: Doing what’s right regardless of how difficult it is or the consequences.
  • Health and Fitness: Caring for mind and body.
  • Responsibility: Fulfilling the duty to take care of ourselves and others
  • Respect: Showing regard for the worth of everyone and everything.
  • Positive Attitude: Setting one’s mind to look for and find the best in all situations.
  • Citizenship: Contributing service and showing responsibility to local, state and national communities.

Each boy is presented with a symbolic arrow, as a reminder of Cub Scouting, to remember the ideals he has learned as a Cub Scout and to remain straight and true as he grows to manhood. The arrow has a straight shaft so it will stay on the course upon which it has been set. The arrow point gives it direction, and the feathers help give it stability and help guide it on its course.Β  The color markings indicate his advancement in Cub Scouting.

  • Orange: Tiger Scout
  • Green: Bobcat Rank
  • Yellow: Wolf Rank
  • Blue: Bear Rank
  • Red: Webelos Rank

The Scouts who were honored were: Jack Bishop, Alex DeGraw, Trevor Neal, John Mahoney, Sean Tonnesen, Andrew Christie, Anthony Gambuti, Mark Johnson, Dylan Kehoe, Ernst Lippert, David Magella, Ryan Schmidt, Adam Varda, Billy Corby, Ryan Leyden, Kalen Luciano, Terry Luciano, Justin Palus, Noah Toothman, Anthony Campana, Thomas DiBruno, Peter Heywang, Jared Kerr, Brandon Martin and Thomas Tuosto.
