Eye Institute Food Drive Starts, Blues at the Stanhope House

Here's what you need to know for Friday.

• Friday is the first day of a month-long Food Drive in Jefferson Township. The altruistic effort is being sponsored by the Eye Institute North. Boxes are available at the institute's office for residents to drop off nonperishable goods for families and individuals who can use a helping hand. The drive kicks off Friday at 9 a.m. at 5677 Berkshire Valley Drive. 
• Kick off your weekend with live music. Blues man Dave Fields comes to the Stanhope House Friday night to regale fans with memorable eight-bar tunes and more to support his latest recording, "Detonation." Opening the show is the AJC Band. Meanwhile, the House's Crossfire Lounge, catch Rob Chaseman and Subtone. Tickets for Dave Fields are $20 and may be purchased online.  The Stanhope House is at 45 Main St. in Stanhope. 
• Friday is the last day to register for Saturday's  Jefferson Township Community Players presentation the radio version of Joseph Kesselring's classic 1939 play "Arsenic and Old Lace." If you're still in a Halloween mood, or if this week's 75th anniversary NPR airing of Orson Welles' still terrifying radio drama "War of the Worlds" was not enough, this show should help! After the show, enjoy refreshments and conversation. Register at www.jeffersonlibrary.net or call the library at 973-208-6244. The library is at 1031 Weldon Road in Oak Ridge. The performance is free to the public.
• College-bound seniors in Jefferson, don't forget: The SAT college entrance exam is being offered Saturday. The test is being given to those who have registered and paid the fee in advance at the school you chose as a test site. Get a good night's sleep, eat a nutritious breakfast and be ready with your photo ID to go bright and early, scholars: The test starts at 7:45 a.m.
