Falcon Bowlers Spare No Opponents

Jefferson remains in first place.

With not one, but two perfect games this season, the first two in Falcon history, it seems like the Jefferson Falcons bowling team shouldn’t reside anywhere but the top of the NJAC heap. And that’s exactly where they are—in first place with an undefeated record. The Falcons also came in tenth in the Brick Tournament which featured teams from all over the state.

Matt Servedio and Chris Sandham, both seniors, have hit 300 gold this season, something no Falcon bowler had done before them. Head coach Marianne DiRupo was just as excited as the bowlers themselves when the games happened.

“They’ve both worked so hard,” DiRupo said. “They both told me when they were freshmen that they were going to bowl perfect games in their senior year. I sort of forgot about it, until they did and reminded me of what they’d said. They were right!”

However, Servedio and Sandham are not the only two doing good things for the Falcons.

“Austin Vance has been doing great for us, and so has Kyle Bendish,” DiRupo said. “Really everyone has been stepping up.”

DiRupo said she can be hard on the bowlers sometimes.

“I do get on them when they don’t make their spares,” she said. “I want them to work hard. We don’t get to practice five or six days a week like some of the other teams do, so I tell them that for the three times a week I have them, I want them to work as hard as they can.”

The Falcons will participate in the New Brunswick Tournament on Saturday at Carolier Zone Lanes starting at 9:30 a.m.
