Five Things You Need to Know After Irene
The storm is gone, but the after effects aren't.
Hurricane Irene has left us—finally. But not, unfortunately, without a lot of damage around town. Now it’s time for clean-up. However, you need to be careful when trying to go about your business today, as it may not be as easy as you think. Here are five things you need to know in the aftermath of Irene:
- You Need to Know About Road Closures: There are still several throughout town, including Route 15. Stay with Patch and we’ll keep you updated.
- You Need to Know About Power Lines: If you have one down by your house, don’t touch it. Check with JCP&L or PSE&G to get help.
- You Need to Know About Flooding: Roads all over town are flooded, which will make travel hazardous. Again, stay with Patch, and we’ll keep you updated, to try and make your travel as pain-free as possible.
- You Need to Know About Public Transportation: It will be limited at best. Check the NJ Transit web site, www.njtransit.com, to see what trains and buses will be running.
- You Need to Take It Slow: It will take a while for things around town to get completely back to normal. Have patience.
