Get Education Back on Your Mind

Here are five events at the library to keep your mind active.

The school year begins tomorrow. And where better to spend some time this week than at the library, getting the kids back into school mode. The provides great educational opportunities, not only for the kids, but for you. Check out these upcoming events:

  1. You Need to Know About Poetry: In “A Taste of Poetry,” reference librarian Chris O’Brien offers some selections of her choosing, and invites participants to bring favorite poems to read and discuss. It happens at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
  2. You Need to Know About Computers: Is your computer acting up? The seminar on Friday at 9:30 a.m., “Healthy Computers,” just might be the place for you. Even if you can’t fix it yourself, you’ll see that there are ways to figure out what ails the technological beast, and how to tame them.
  3. You Need to Know About Writing: The Wordsmiths Writing group meets  this Saturday at 10 a.m. If you have a piece you’d like to share, bring it along, or work on a piece of your choosing while you’re there.
  4. You Need to Know About This Book Club: The “Guys Read” book club meets on Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. This month’s choice is “A Measureless Periil.” Let’s go, there’s still time to go out and get the book and finish it before next week.
  5. You Need to Know About This Seminar: Do you ever wish you could shake the sugar habit? Now’s your chance, at the “Shake the Sugar Habit” workshop on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
