#HigherLearning: Centenary College Launches Social Media Center for Studies

Centenary College in Hackettstown is embracing the social media world in which its students now live, and announced it has opened a Social Media Center of Expertise and correlating program of studies.

The center will be called #theVIBE and students can now take courses in “an innovative Social Media Marketing program,” the school announced Wednesday.

The center will help students gain social media expertise and “where businesses can leverage the knowledge of social media experts,” the school said.

The program will allow for students to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Social Media Marketing, or combine Social Media Marketing minor with other majors, like Graphic Design or Communication.

“The program Centenary College is launching in Social Media will help fill the gap we see today in analytic talent and appears to be on the forefront of instilling the skills colleges should be teaching to future professionals,” said Kevin Hartman, Google Head of Analytics – Consumer Goods and Entertainment Sector, in a statement.

The courses being offered include Social Media Marketing, Digital Advertising, Digital Analytics, and Social Media Strategy and Consulting.

“Our graduates will stand out with an undergraduate degree focused on Social Media Marketing in a job market that is increasingly demanding these skills,” said Kathy Naasz, Dean of the Social Media Center of Expertise. “To put it simply, businesses need high quality social media experts and we are going to provide them.”

Centenary College’s main campus is in Hackettstown and has additional campuses in Parsippany and Edison, and an Equestrian Center in Long Valley. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Oct. 9 at the Hackettstown campus.
