Holiday Gift Drive for Homeless Women Ends Sunday at Jefferson Jewelry Shop

The giving spirit is living large at Buccieri’s Gems & Jewelry. The Oak Ridge shop is holding its eighth holiday gift collection drive to benefit Strengthen Our Sisters, a nonprofit shelter serving homeless or battered women and their dependent children in northern New Jersey. Now is your last chance to participate, as the effort comes to a close Sunday.

Strengthen Our Sisters, in Wanaque, is dedicated to helping women and children restore balance and harmony to their lives. It provides safe, supportive shelter to women and children as well as counseling, child care, children’s workshops, support groups, parenting education and employment development programs. 

Buccieri’s Gems & Jewelry is asking area residents to donate new, unwrapped gifts for the children served by the shelter. Suggested items for the younger children include infant clothing, diapers, pajamas, games, coloring books, crayons and toys. For older kids, the store recommends contributing  art supplies, clothing, pajamas, and hygiene products 
such as body wash, perfume and cologne. Winter items such as hats, gloves, mittens and scarves are welcome for all ages.

In addition to the above, the shelter also needs new twin sheets, blankets, 
pillows, bath towels, and wash cloths. Wrapping paper, gift bags, labels, and tape are also welcome so that the gifts can be wrapped and distributed on Dec. 23 and as needed through the holidays.

Anyone wishing to donate to Strengthen Our Sisters is welcome to drop items off at Buccieri’s Gems & Jewelry through Sunday. The store is located at 5669 Berkshire Valley Road. For more info, call Kathy at 973-208-6880.
