Jefferson Day to Celebrate 25th Anniversary

Food, games, a parade and fireworks mark the day.

July 9 marks the silver anniversary of Jefferson Township Day and the Jefferson Arts Committee has big plans to mark this special occasion.

Plans are underway for an expanded township parade along Weldon Road beginning at 11 a.m.  Convertibles and classic vehicles will transport attending dignitaries. As of now, the lineup will be led by Town Crier Bill Joseph and the Jefferson Township High School’s Golden Falcons Marching Band.

A wide variety of games, contests and entertainment will be part of the day, along with a celebration of the 75th anniversary of Fire Company No. 1.

Evening entertainment will include the Robert Murdock Band performing their exciting British Invasion Tribute.  It’s actually three shows in one—the first part includes songs by iconic British groups, the American Response follows with music by legendary artists, and the journey through the 1960s concludes with a note-for-note rendition of Side B of The Beatles’ Abbey Road album.

The evening will be capped by an aerial fireworks show that will light up the skies of Jefferson Township. Once again this year, the fireworks will be presented by Interstate Fireworks Company.
