Lady Falcons Look to Exceed Last Season on the Court

Team to start four seniors.

The has a lot to live up to after last season. They finished the year with a 22-4 record, went to the semi-finals in the Morris County tournament and the second round of state tournament play. However, the team lost four seniors, and hope that four of this year's seniors can take their places.

Those four are Sammy Lapszynski, Lauren Ferguson, Kristen Flaherty and Amanda Gerritsen. They will be joined by junior Kristen Swerzenski.

β€œWe should be good inside, as we have a lot of height,” said head coach Jim O'Connor. β€œWe hope that Lauren can get the ball inside, and that Kristen (Flaherty) can step in for her sister (Cassie, who graduated last year).

β€œWe may not be as deep as we were last year, because some of the sophomores are still an unknown quantity,” O'Connor continued. β€œAnd we'll have some tough competition from High Point, Randolph and Mountain Lakes.”

Four-year varsity starter Lapszynski intends to help out as much as she can.

β€œI remember when I was a freshman and sophomore, I looked to the seniors to lead. Now that I'm a senior, I want to do the same thing,” she said. β€œI want to be a role model for the team, and help out the team as much as possible every single game.”

The season opens for the Lady Falcons on Friday night, when they host High Point. Β
