Dover Business College is pleased to announce that Maryjean Hollenstein of Oak Ridge, Nazish Niazi of Dover, and Juliana Villavicencio of Sparta, recently passed the examination of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) to become Certified Medical Assistants. Ms. Hollenstein, Ms. Nazish and Ms. Villavicencio are graduates of the Certified Medical Assistant Program at the Dover Campus.
“Certified graduates of the Medical Assistant program at Dover Business College are well trained, competent and caring members of medical teams who are prepared to work in a variety of healthcare settings,” said Gabriel Holder, Chair of the Medical Assistant, and Medical Insurance Billing and Coding Programs.

The Certified Medical Assistant designation (CMA) is a national credential awarded by the AAMA, indicating that the Medical Assistant meets certain standards of competence. In addition to taking vital signs and preparing patients for, and assisting doctors with, patient examinations, the Medical Assistant collects and prepares laboratory specimens and performs basic laboratory tests on the premises. He or she understands medical office administration as well as medical terminology and coding, and also may perform clinical procedures such as electrocardiography (EKG).
In the State of New Jersey, Medical Assistants who hold the CMA credential are permitted to administer injections.
