Middle School Dance, One Day Before Homecoming, Gather Your Meds

Your daily planner for Jefferson Township includes to-do items to prepare for a busy fall weekend.

Here's what you need to know for Friday.

  • They grow up so fast, don't they? For many kids, Friday's Jefferson Middle School 6th Grade Welcome Dance will be their first big dance. Tell 'em to just relax, be themselves and have fun: Memories will be made if they don't stand against the wall with their lunch-table friends. The event, sponsored by the JTMS PTA, runs from 7-9 p.m. in the school cafeteria and gymnasium. The school is at 1000 Weldon Road.
  • They grow up so fast, don't they? Part Deux: Friday is the day to make sure all the last-minute details are ready, so that the Jefferson Township High School Homecoming Dance goes off without a hitch. The event runs from 6-10 p.m. Saturday in the auxiliary gymnasium at the school, 1010 Weldon Road.
  • Friday's also a great opportunity to gather all your unwanted, unused and expired over-the-counter and prescription medications. That's because Saturday is the Jefferson Township Medication Dropoff Event. From 10 a.m.-2 p.m., residents can drop off medications at the Jefferson Township Court Room for safe disposal by law enforcement officials. It's really important, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration, which says much youth drug abuse starts with the family medicine cabinet. Get the drugs out of there so they don't end up in the wrong hands or unwittingly compromise public landfills and drinking water through improper disposal.
