JTHS Movie Night, Cocoa and Story Time at Jefferson Library

Also on the calendar for Thursday is a gathering for moms and dads of high school musicians and a joint meeting of the Jefferson and Wharton Rotary Club chapters.

Here's what you need to know for Thursday:

  • When it's chilly, it seems even more difficult to get kids to settle down to enjoy good books, but Jefferson Township Public Library has a great idea: mixing story time with treats! On Thursday from 4:30-6 p.m., the library invites children to enjoy Stories to Warm Your Heart, Hot Chocolate and a Marshmallow Treat. Self-explanatory, really: Children are invited to listen to some winter tales, and hot chocolate will be served. Plus, kids can get involved in a crafting activity, making adorable marshmallow snowmen as a special bit of winter fun. The special cold-weather story time is free of charge, but you will need to register in advance, which can be accomplished online. The Jefferson Library is at 1031 Weldon road in Oak Ridge.
  • The Jefferson Rotary Club meets at Picatinny Arsenal Cannon Gate Conference Center Thursday at 6:15 p.m. for its monthly gathering. This session is a special one, as it is a joint meeting with the Rotary chapter from Wharton. The conference center is at 121 Buffington Road in Picatinny Arsenal.
  • It's Movie Night at Jefferson Township High School. The title of the film being screened at no charge to attendees has not been released, but it really isn't the point—bringing the student body together for bonding and shared experiences that build school spirit is. The movie begins in the Senior Cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. and runs for approximately two hours. The school is located at 1010 Weldon Road.
  • Jefferson Township High School's Jazz Band and Wind Ensembles met earlier this week, and Thursday night, a meeting will be held for JTHS Band Parents. The gathering is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. in the high school chorus room.
