Morris County Seeks Citizen Of The Year Nominations
The deadline to nominate a fellow citizen is March 15, 2020.
JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ — It's time again to recognize someone who has made a difference in the Morris County area, and Morris County is asking for help identifying those superstars.
The ideal candidate is a person (or a couple) "whose volunteerism and outstanding service and dedication have made a significant contribution to the community," the city said in a statement Thursday.
To nominate a friend or neighbor who has shown selflessness or meets the criteria defined below, download a nomination form here. All nominations are due by March 15, 2020.

Completed forms can be sent via US Mail to Jefferson Township Municipal Building, 1033 Weldon Road, lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849 or by email to mayor@jeffersontownship.net.
The full list of qualifications seen in a Citizen of the Year, as defined by Morris County, is below:

- A person who continually volunteers his or her time, dedicated and talents to the town and the citizens of the town to make Jefferson Township a great place to live, work, play and learn.
- A person who has made a positive difference to the lives of fellow citizens.
- Someone who is dedicated to Jefferson Township and concerned for others. They may serve on service, school, church, or community committees.
- A person who has shown a willingness to work with other Jefferson Township residents, who is enthusiastic about the town and its citizens, and who works continually towards the betterment of the community.
- A person with the qualities of honesty and integrity.
The county said when choosing the recipient of the award, consideration will be given to the nominee's achievements from the prior year, as well as past achievements and ongoing contributions to the community.
