
The Jefferson police department has reported a number of burglaries and thefts to homes and cars over the past several weeks. They include:
- A resident of Martin View Road reported the theft of a 2006 Kawasaki KX250 motorcycle on Oct. 27.
- A resident of Roxbury reported that sometime between Oct. 28 and 29 someone entered his vehicle parked on East Shore Road that was unlocked with the driver's side window rolled down. Police said the vehicle's key, which was still in the ignition, was removed, along with two guitars worth $350 in total.
- A resident of Peach Road reported that someone broke a window of her basement and entered the home. Once inside they cut and removed approximately $500 worth of copper pipe.
- A resident of Berkshire Valley Road reported that someone smashed a window next to the front door and reached in to unlock the door and gain access to the residence and removed assorted jewelry on Nov. 3.
- A resident of Benedict Drive reported that between Oct, 30 and Nov. 6, someone entered the home and removed two computers, a Garmin GPS, jewelry and cash.
- New to you Consignments located Route 181 reported that sometime between Nov. 5 and 6, Β someone broke a window of the store and the metal fence covering it. The estimated value of the damage was $700, police said
- A resident of Felter Place reported that someone smashed the back window of his vehicle that was parked in his driveway on Nov. 15.
- A resident of Apollo Drive reported that she placed a laptop on the couch before she left her residence on Nov. 16. The laptop was missing when she returned. The residence had been left unlocked.
- An employee at Carbon Express reported he observed two unknown individuals remove scrap metal from the property on Nov. 17. The suspects were described as two Hispanic males, wearing dark clothing and driving a blue pickup truck with a red pickup bed, police said. The scrap metal value was estimated at $200. It contained both aluminum and stainless steel.
- A resident of Cayuga Trail reported pieces of jewelry missing from the master bedroom between the dates of Nov. 7 and 11.
- A resident of Abernaki Trail reported that someone entered his house and removed credit cards from his wallet on Nov. 23. After a brief investigation, Cody Woodard, 19 of Jefferson, who resides at the residence, was charged with burglary and theft. He was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of the $50,000 bail.
- A resident of Mt. Arlington reported that sometime between Nov. 21 and 23, someone removed more than 20 pieces of copper tubing/pipe from his unlocked garage on Berkshire Valley Road.
- Three separate residents reported that their unlocked vehicle was entered overnight on Nov. 27 on New Jersey Avenue. Cell phones, a GPS and small amount of cash were reported stolen from the vehicles.
