Preschool Inclusion Program Accepting Applications

Deadline is March 31.

The will enroll a small number of preschool children who will turn three by Oct. 1. Parents must reside in Jefferson Township to apply. This preschool experience will offer children an opportunity to learn and socialize with peers in a nurturing and meaningful learning environment.

The class of up to 15 will include students with disabilities and non-disabled peers from the community. The session is from 12:30 to 3 p.m., following the Jefferson Township public school calendar for 2012-2013. Classes will be Monday - Thursday and alternating Fridays.

The preschool inclusion program and transportation are being offered at no cost. The class is located at , 52 Schoolhouse Road, Oak Ridge. The school has a gym, playground, and classroom with developmentally appropriate materials. The curriculum is research-based and has proven results in promoting literacy, thinking and self-regulation skills.  The classroom teacher is experienced and has met New Jersey standards for Preschool certification.

A lottery will be held if the number of qualifying applications exceeds the number of openings. Those students who are selected will be contacted to complete the registration process. 

To request an application, please contact the Office of Special Services by calling (973) 697-3535 extension 3. The application is also available on-line at the district website at http://www.jefftwp.org/specialservices/specserv.shtml . However, only hard copies will be considered. Please mail or deliver to the Office of Special Services, 1010 Weldon Road, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438. The deadline for applications is Thursday, March 31.
