Reorganization Meeting Brings Changes to Township

New council VP, appointments made.

The Jefferson Township council held its reorganization meeting on Wednesday night, with some familiarity and some change.

Councilman Richard Yocum was unanimously reelected as council president. Councilwoman Debi Merz was unanimously elected council vice president, replacing outgoing vice president Bob Birmingham.

The council voted to again retain the services of Lawrence Cohen as township attorney and Robert Beinfield as bond council.

Patricia Dale was sworn in as tax collector, as well as tax searcher and cashier.

The mayor and council made several appointments to various positions. Some of those include the following:

Office of Emergency Management: deputy chief William Craig, coordinator; Eric Wilsusen, deputy coordinator; members Ed Mangold, Mickey DeLoreto and Andrew Schmidt.

Planning Board: Robert Mitchko, Joseph Mikowski, John V. Palko, Jr. and William Craig.

Township Planner: Jill Hartmann

Prosecutor: James LaSala, with alternates Peter Fico, Dennis Driscoll or any other Morris County prosecutor

Public Defender: Robert Correale

Zoning Officer: Bruce Decker
