Car-Crash Victim Sisco Remembered as 'Gentle and Wonderful Man'

Helpful Jefferson resident was killed in a one-car accident on Monday.

Floyd Sisco was well-known around Jefferson Township, particularly among the senior citizens he spent so much time with on a daily basis.

“Floyd was a gentle and wonderful man,” said Lorraine Holland, vice president of the Lakeland Seniors Club, of which Sisco was a lifelong member. “He was so helpful. No matter what was ever asked of him, he would do it,” she said.

Holland remembered Sisco as a very big help at all the senior club’s meetings.

“He would get to our meetings early and set everything up, set the tables, do whatever needed to be done,” Holland said. “Then, after the meetings were over, he would always stay around and clean up. So he was there several hours before and several hours after all of our meetings.”

Carol Punturieri of the Jefferson Recreation Department has similar memories.

“I didn’t know him well, but I know that he was here every Tuesday before the seniors’ lunch, setting up, making coffee, getting everything ready,” Punturieri said.

Sisco was also active in the fire department, and was a lifelong member of .

According to Sisco’s obituary on the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home web site, Sisco was predeceased by his wife Peggy, who died in 2008. He is survived by his children Danny and his wife Joanne of Oak Ridge, Clifford and his wife Debbie of Lake Hopatcong. He has two grandchildren, Shelly Ackerman of Pennsylvania and Shaun Sisco of Rockaway, and four great grandsons, Damien, Josh, Steven and Matthew. Sisco is also survived by a sister, Joyce Harris of Jefferson Township.

Sisco’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday, March 18 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m., according to the obituary.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sisco’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950.
