Arrest Made In Jersey City Hit-And-Run That Injured Teen

The driver was arrested in the Saturday hit-and-run that left a 15-year-old with serious injuries.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The driver was arrested in Saturday's hit-and-run in Jersey City that left a 15-year-old pedestrian seriously injured.

Boris Marroquin Solorzano, 30, of Jersey City was charged with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, Causing Serious Bodily Injury While in Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Being Unlicensed and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

An incident was reported at 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Delaware and Duncan Avenues and officers were alerted to a second incident nearby on Duncan Avenue where the teen was injured, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

The teen was seriously injured and the car that hit her had left the area, officials said. Officers discovered that a mid-sized sedan hit the teen while she was crossing Duncan Avenue. The officers found the suspected car, found a matching car driving on Condict Street and arrested Marroquib Solarzano on suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated.

Solorzano’s 4-year-old daughter was found to be unrestrained in the back of the car at the time of his arrest on Saturday.

The teen was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center where she is being treated for her injuries. Her injuries were critical and life-threatening, according to the HCPO.
