JERSEY CITY, NJ — Jersey City's Ward C runoff election wrapped upon Tuesday with incumbent Richard Boggiano defending his council seat from challenger Kevin Bing.
Boggiano kept his seat with 1,733 votes to Bing’s 1,237, according to unofficial results. Boggiano has served as Ward C Councilman since 2013. Bing is a businessman and political newcomer. The runoff election was necessary after neither candidate earned over 50 percent of the ward votes in the November general election.
Boggiano's win brings the City Council to a 7-2 majority for Mayor Steven Fulop's slate.
