UPDATED: Route 440 Closures In Jersey City Began Monday
A Jersey City spokeswoman gave a link for updates on repair work on Route 440 that could take up to 14 days.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — Emergency sewer repairs on Route 440 — an artery that runs along western and southern Jersey City, past malls and Route 9 — began on Monday, and numerous lanes and routes in the area were slated to be closed.
A spokeswoman for the city of Jersey City said that repairs were to begin as scheduled, and that the public should follow updates at the Municipal Utilities Authority website, here. She said the repairs could take up to 14 days.
Because the road runs along the southern and western borders of Jersey City, near Routes 1 & 9 and the Bayonne border, the closures may impact various popular locations and stores.

Access to the parking lot of Home Depot and Raymour & Flanigan on that route will be through Gothic Knights Road, said a Jersey City official.
