He added, "Our team, along with community partners, will make sure they have a safe place to stay and the resources they need especially as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday.”

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, the town said.

Will Seek Donations

The Township has partnered with local businesses, community organizations, charities, and North Bergen C.A.R.E.S. to ensure that displaced families have housing through the Thanksgiving weekend.

They're also providing Thanksgiving meals, clothing, toiletries, and other supplies.

Aimee Focaraccio, North Bergen C.A.R.E.S. director, said, “These families lost everything, but they are not alone. We are working with incredible local partners to make sure they are cared for, supported, and surrounded with compassion."

North Bergen C.A.R.E.S. will be coordinating donations of new or gently used clothing, toiletries, and other essential items in the coming days. Information on how residents can help will be posted on the township website and on NB C.A.R.E.S.’ social media pages.
