FDU Hosts Daniel Regan for a Defining Conversation on America’s Mental Health Crisis, Recovery, and Transform
FDU to Host Daniel Regan for Public Conversation on Recovery, Resilience, and Hope – December 4, 2025

Rutherford, N.J. — December 4, 2025. Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) announced today that it will host Daniel Regan advocate, author, and nationally recognized leader in the field of mental health and addiction recovery for a public conversation and book signing event on December 4, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the university’s Greg Olsen Student Union Building.
Regan, whose personal journey from addiction to national leadership has drawn significant attention across the country, will return to Fairleigh Dickinson as an alumnus in what university officials describe as “a profoundly meaningful full circle moment.” The event is expected to bring together students, faculty, community leaders, and professionals from across New Jersey who seek to understand the complexities of trauma, recovery, and the structural challenges within the United States’ behavioral health landscape.
In his remarks ahead of the event, Regan indicated that he intends to speak candidly about the intersection of vulnerability, public policy, and community service. “My story is not about where I fell, but about the people, institutions, and moments that taught me how to rise,” Regan said. “Returning to FDU reminds me that education and community can become lifelines not only for recovery, but for redefining one’s purpose in the world.”

Today, Regan stands as one of New Jersey’s most influential voices in mental health reform. He has co-founded several initiatives dedicated to trauma informed care, peer based recovery support, and community reintegration. His work has shaped legislative proposals before state officials and inspired new treatment models rooted in dignity, human connection, and scientific evidence.
University leaders emphasized that Regan’s visit aligns with FDU’s broader commitment to civic engagement, public-health education, and experiential learning. “Events like this expand students’ understanding of the real world challenges that confront our nation,” one administrator noted. “Daniel Regan’s voice represents an urgent call for solutions that are both compassionate and structural.”
