Jersey City Among Top 100 NJ Towns In New Ranking: NJ Monthly

Jersey City is near the top of New Jersey Monthly magazine's annual ranking of the top towns in the Garden State.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Jersey City was ranked among the top 100 towns in New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly magazine for 2019.

New Jersey Monthly looked at several factors to determine the rankings, including average tax bills, the average change in tax bills since 2016, median home prices and their changes since 2016, the crime rate per 1,000 residents, and local high schools' rank by New Jersey Monthly.

Jersey City was ranked No. 30, thanks in part to shrinking property taxes and rising home values.

Jersey City residents' tax bills have decreased more than 7 percent since 2016. the median tax bill is now $6,445, according to the magazine.

The median home price in Jersey City is $403,500, which is a whopping 29 percent more than what it was in 2016.
