Jersey City Medical Center (JCMC), an RWJBarnabas Health facility, recently hosted an open house and breakfast, celebrating the first anniversary of the Madeline Fiadini LoRe Foundation Infusion Center. The celebratory event also included a meet and greet with the medical center’s oncology team, and a tour of the infusion center. In partnership with Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, JCMC and the infusion center delivers comprehensive cancer care including innovative clinical trials, complex surgical procedures, and sophisticated radiation therapy.

One of the event’s featured speakers, Erica Trojan, spoke about her ability to receive outstanding treatment following her breast cancer diagnosis in July 2021, close to home. After making it through 17 rounds of chemotherapy and 30 days of radiation, Trojan completed her last treatment nine days before the breakfast celebration.

“I may have lost my breasts and my hair this past year, but I am still here, and I’m about to celebrate my soon to-be 40th birthday,” Trojan said at the breakfast celebration.

The construction of the infusion center would not be made possible without the Madeline Fiadini LoRe Foundation for Cancer Prevention’s $1 million donation. The center offers Hudson County-area patients access to outstanding cancer treatment close to home.

“In 2008, I created the Madeline Fiadini LoRe Foundation for Cancer Prevention after surviving my own journey with cancer. The foundation has grown so much since and I am proud to celebrate the one-year anniversary of our infusion center,” said Madeline Fiadini LoRe, the foundation’s founder. “Thank you to the staff who work hard to provide patients access to the best cancer-treatment services possible. Thank you to RWJBarnabas Health and Jersey City Medical Center for partnering with us, we cannot thank you enough for all that you do.”

“The Madeline Fiadini LoRe Foundation is a home for so many, partnering with them has been a wonderful decision. We will continue to do our part in the fight against cancer and bring the best cancer treatment services to those here in New Jersey.” said Michael Prilutsky, JCMC’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
