JERSEY CITY, NJ — New Jersey has many great restaurants, but who knew that one of the best is on wheels?
The Jersey City-based sushi truck Wisp Express just made a list of the top 100 best rated food trucks in the country, as ranked by customers on Yelp.
Jersey City has been named one of the top 11 up-and-coming foodie towns by Food & Wine Magazine in the past, so perhaps the ranking is no surprise. READ MORE: One Of Top 11 Foodie Towns In U.S. Is Jersey City, National Magazine Says

Wisp Express came in 75th out of the top 100.
The truck was about to close last summer when it found out that it had made a different Yelp list — so the chefs kept it open, noted a report. It's run by three chefs who have fresh fish brought in from New York City every morning.

Still, the industry has been tough.
"We are coming up on 4 years in the industry, we've seen and been through multiple break downs with the truck," they noted in an Instagram post in 2023. "Luckily, we were always able to level out the issue and come out audaciously."
The chefs park in locations around the city and offer dozens of colorful dishes, including specialty rolls, poke bowls, and salads.
No other New Jersey food trucks made the list. Many of those ranked high were from California, Hawaii, and Texas. Here were the top 5:
- Tony’s Catch, Kapa’a, Hawaii
- Jim’s Smokehouse, Austin, Texas
- Taco Libre, Koloa, Hawaii
- Jojo’s Hot Chicken, San Jose, California
- La Jalisciense, Santa Nella, California
