Jersey City Schools Open Thursday, Introduce 'Parent Hotline'
It's back to school for kids in Jersey City this week. See when school starts, half days, and other key dates.

JERSEY CITY, NJ —With Labor Day in the rear view, students in Jersey City head back to school this week.
The public schools open to students on Thursday, giving them a short week to get acclimated.
According to the school calendar, schools will be closed Oct. 2 for Yom Kippur, a religious Jewish holiday. They will also be closed on Oct. 13 for Columbus Day/Indigenous People's Day and on Oct. 20 for Diwali.

November will have several days off, including Nov. 10, Veteran's Day, and Nov. 6 and 7 for the annual NJEA teachers' union convention.

Parent Hotline On The Way
Jersey City Superintendent of Schools Dr. Norma Fernandez announced at the end of August that in order to help with communication with parents, the district is working on a parent hotline. It will be staffed by a trained administrator, for parents who need extra help with questions.
