Jersey City Universities Makes U.S. News' Best Colleges List

Saint Peter's University and New Jersey City University were ranked among the best regional universities by U.S. News & World Report.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Two Jersey City universities were named to U.S. News & World Report's 2020 best colleges list, which was released Monday.

Nine New Jersey colleges were named to the list. Saint Peter's University was ranked No. 86 and New Jersey City University was ranked No. 129-170 in U.S. News & World Report's "regional universities north" rankings.

For the 2020 rankings, U.S. News & World Report made some changes to help prospective students with their college search. A new set of rankings looks at the top performers in social mobility, evaluating which schools best serve underrepresented students. The 2020 methodology also factors in which schools support first-generation college students through graduation.

New Jersey's Princeton University was ranked the No. 1 college in the United States. Harvard University was ranked No. 2. Rutgers University-New Brunswick was the next highest nationally ranked New Jersey institution at No. 62.
