Major Water Main Break Closes Road In Jersey City: Updates
Work continued overnight after a water main break closed a major road near the Jersey City/Hoboken border.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — A water main break near the Jersey City/Hoboken border on Monday caused a road closure in the neighborhood near the Holland Tunnel into Tuesday night.
Veolia crews said they were responding to a break at Eighteenth Street and Jersey Avenue.
They said water pressure "in the vicinity" might be low and advised flushing taps.

Late on Tuesday, the company issued this information for Jersey City residents:
"There is currently no boil water advisory for Jersey City. Residents are advised to take proactive contingencies in preparation for low water pressure throughout the evening.

"Traffic Impacts: The roadway is closed at the intersection of Jersey Avenue and 18th Street due to repair work underway and into the overnight. All drivers must use alternate routes, including tractor-trailers. Trucks and all other drivers can use the north approach into Hoboken via
Route 495."
A "boil water" order remained in effect on the Hoboken side.
