HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — Arson investigators are probing an early-morning fire in downtown Jersey City in which a man was found unresponsive, prosecutors said.

The Jersey City Fire Department headed to 366 1/2 Seventh St., three blocks from Hamilton Park, in response to a 911 call around 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

They encountered an ongoing fire, they said, and then located an unresponsive 57-year-old man inside with serious injuries.

The man was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, treated, and then transfered to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, where he is in
critical but stable condition.

A preliminary investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department determined the fire originated in a bedroom at that address, prosecutors said. They did not release further details.
