Man Who Sexually Assaulted Woman At Cemetery In Hudson County Gets Sentenced: Prosecutor

A man who grabbed a woman on the street and sexually assaulted her at a cemetery in North Bergen has been sentenced, prosecutors said.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A North Bergen man has been sentenced to 24 years in New Jersey State Prison for kidnapping a woman off the street and sexually assaulting her in a cemetery in 2019, prosecutors said Monday.

Judge Mitzy Galis-Menendez sentenced Oscar Ramirez, 33, on Friday, said Hudson County prosecutors. Ramirez had pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault.

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said that on Oct. 26, 2019, Ramirez approached a 23-year-old woman who was walking on 46th Street.

He grabbed her from behind, threatened her with a sharp object, and then sexually assaulted her at the Grove Church Cemetery in North Bergen, prosecutors said.

He was sentenced Friday for the kidnapping charge, which will run concurrent to an 18-year sentence for aggravated sexual assault, prosecutors said.

The sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act, Megan’s Law Registration, and Parole Supervision for Life.

The state was represented at sentencing by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Andrew Baginski, prosecutors said.
