Man's Death On Jersey City Street Under Investigation: Prosecutor

A 56-year-old man was found unresponsive on a Jersey City street on Friday and pronounced dead shortly afterward, prosecutors said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A man was found unresponsive on a Jersey City street Friday and passed away soon after, prosecutors said.

Police were notified around 9 a.m. on Friday of an injured person in the area of Neptune and Garfield avenues, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

Joey Richburg, 56, was found unresponsive outside on Neptune Avenue, prosecutors said.

He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center and pronounced dead at approximately 9:42 a.m., prosecutors said.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating.

No arrests had been made as of Saturday, prosecutors said.

Candle Lighting Held

A candle lighting and balloon launch were held for Richburg in Curries Woods Park on Sunday.
