Teen Shot Dead In Jersey City Apartment, Prosecutor Says (patch.com) — Residents of Jersey City are being urged to share any information after a 16-year-old boy from Pennsylvania was found fatally shot in a Rose Avenue apartment Friday evening. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and Jersey City police are actively investigating the homicide and have released a tip line for confidential leads.
   

2. James Solomon Defeats Jim McGreevey in Jersey City Race (hudsonreporter.com) — Jersey City voters have elected James Solomon as the next mayor, defeating former Gov. Jim McGreevey in a runoff focused on affordability, housing, and public safety. Solomon, a sitting councilmember, promises tougher rent controls, more affordable housing, and hiring additional police officers as he prepares to succeed Mayor Steve Fulop in January.
   

3. Board of Ed Rejects Lease Bid For Old PS 3, Says Farewell to Departing Trustee (jcitytimes.com) — Jersey City’s Board of Education has rejected a below-market lease bid for the vacant former P.S. 3 building at 70 Bright Street, opting not to rent it to an unnamed company. The meeting also featured sharp criticism from special education parents over financial lapses and marked the final session for outgoing trustee and vice president Christopher Tisdale.
   

4. Jersey City Creates Accessibility Advisory Committee to Improve Access for Residents With Disabilities (tapinto.net) — Jersey City has created a new Accessibility Advisory Committee to help city leaders identify and fix barriers facing residents with disabilities, from crosswalks to playgrounds. The 11-member volunteer group, all local residents, will meet regularly, advise on ADA compliance, and help build a Special Needs Registry so first responders can better assist people during emergencies.
   

5. ‘Richard Boggiano Junction' Honors 50 Years of Service of Longtime Jersey City Councilman, Cop (tapinto.net) — A key Jersey City intersection at Magnolia and Baldwin avenues has been officially renamed “Richard Boggiano Junction” to honor the outgoing Ward C councilman’s 50 years of service to the city. Colleagues and Mayor-elect James Solomon praised Boggiano’s decades as a cop, councilman, veteran, and neighborhood leader, while Boggiano vowed to stay active in supporting Jersey City residents.
