Water Main Break Updates For Jersey City: Traffic Impacts And More
Veolia Water had several updates for Jersey City and Hoboken on Wednesday morning regarding the water main break near the border.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Repairs continued Wednesday on a 36-inch water main break that occurred in Jersey City on Monday evening.
Veolia water said Wednesday that there may be low water pressure throughout Jersey City's Newport and Harborside areas near the waterfront, as well as in Hoboken.
There is no "boil water" advisory in Jersey City, but there is one in Hoboken.

The main is located near the intersection of Jersey Avenue and 18th Street in Jersey City. The main is part of the Jersey City interconnect, which primarily feeds Hoboken’s water system, Veolia said.
"While Veolia has successfully switched Hoboken’s water feed to a secondary source, and isolated the break, residents may experience low-to-no water pressure during peak periods this morning due to demand," the company said Wednesday.

Eastbound Jersey Avenue lanes entering into Hoboken are closed due to the repair work. Traffic will be diverted onto 18th Street. One lane of traffic exiting the City westbound on Jersey Avenue remains open.
Hoboken and Jersey City Police officers are on site to assist with traffic flow, pedestrian safety, and oversize trucks, Veolia said.
Drivers are encouraged to enter and exit Hoboken from northern routes.
Veolia said: "In Hoboken, residents and businesses should boil their water for at least one minute for the following: washing dishes, drinking, cooking, or baking, making ice cubes, taking medication, brushing teeth, washing food, mixing baby formula or food, mixing juices or drinks, feeding pets, and all other consumption. Water does not haveto be boiled for showering or washing clothes."
