Attempted Stabbing Puts Whiting Man in Jail, Cops Say

Victim successfully fought off assailant

A Whiting man was arrested for allegedly attempting to stab a Forked River woman Thursday, Chief of Police David Paprota said in a news release.

Peter Marlowe, 50, of Whiting was arrested after he reportedly attacked Jaimie Keiffer, 48, of Forked River, Paprota said.

Sgt. Chris Kenny, Officer Kymberly Gudgeon and Officer Julie Barcalow responded to a home on the 900 block of Newark Avenue in Forked River with a report of an assault in progress at 7:04 p.m. Thursday.

Marlowe became angry and allegedly attacked Keiffer with a knife in hand, Paprota said. With the help of her adult son, Keiffer was able to successfully fight Marlowe off.

Keiffer was not stabbed or cut with the knife during the incident, Paprota said.

Marlowe and Keiffer were reported to be friends, Paprota said.

While there was allegations that the incident may be drug related, officers did not locate evidence of narcotics at the scene, Paprota said.

Marlowe was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. He was sent to the Ocean County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
