Forked River Man Charged With Theft Flees Police On Foot
A Forked River man who has been charged with theft and criminal trespass fled from detectives on foot Thursday morning, police said.
LACEY, NJ — A Forked River man charged with theft of copper and metals valued at more than $3,750 fled from detectives on foot Thursday morning.
As detectives from the Lacey Township Police Department were conducting an investigation into a recent burglary and theft in Forked River, they saw the suspect on Brentwood Road at 10:08 a.m.
As detectives approached Trevor May, 30, he fled from them on foot, police said. Additional officers were called to the scene to assist in locating him.

May ran in the direction of Denton Avenue before he entered a rear locked yard of a residential property on Brentwood Road, police said. He remained in the rear locked yard until he was located by officers and arrested.
Due to the proximity of the property to the Lacey Township Middle School, officers and school officials remained in communication throughout the incident. According to police, there was no threat to the school and the school was not put into lockdown.

May was charged with burglary, theft, criminal trespass and receiving stolen property related to the investigation of a burglary and theft that occurred in Lanoka Harbor in September. The theft involved copper and other metals valued at more than $3,750, police said.
May was also charged with obstructing the administration of the law and resisting arrest.
He was transported and lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility.
